Stephan Janssens lives and works in Waasmunster, in the heart of Waasland in Belgium.
He followed his schooling in the art high school in Sint-Niklaas.
In addition to his contemporary painting creations where he plays with shadow and light, he has made various designs for light fixtures due to his interest in light and technology.
His passion for light and science led him to experiment with different techniques. In this way, gradually, from this craft, his semi-scientific creations arose, with themes such as the lightrobots, the light factory and the Anatomis series…
Stephan studied art and science at the Royal Atheneum in Belgium. For over 20 years was he the frontman of the fun bands: The booze brothers, The Spectra Originals, My flute is like fruit and Monokloot.
He is a non-stop creative mind who experiments with light and paint on different supports and in different environments.
His paintings transcends reality. He creates landscapes in an unconscious zone. A reflex of thoughts between duality which puts an end to the actual decision. A play of light, depth and shadow. A snapshot in time that created series like : the Momentum innerscapes, Holostic charmes, emotional language …
These organic like paintings have been exhibited at various exhibitions in Brussels, Amsterdam, Milan, Luxembourg, Paris, Basel, Miami, Knokke, Zurich, Monte Carlo…
